Unmissing by Minka Kent
The Unmissing was a book that kept me on my toes. Minka Kent once again brought the roller coaster to the party and anyone who reads this gets a free ride. I wasn’t able to guess what was going to happen in this story. As a reader be prepared for thinking you know what is going on just to be sideswiped by the reality. Kent makes you feel for all the characters. You have empathy for them and the situation. I mean how often does someone’s first spouse come back from the dead to find them with a whole new life. Such a unique situation. I enjoyed the world that…

The Stillwater Girls by Minka Kent
Omg! Omg! The Stillwater Girls has totally blown me away. Minka Kent has written a story full of twists and turns. The minute you think you know it all is shortly followed by you realizing you know nothing. This book kept me on my toes and totally engrossed in Wren and Nicolette. I felt a wave full of emotions. I cried and I laughed. The Stillwater Girls is probably one of the best thrillers I have ever read. It is completely unique. Minka Kent has created characters that grab at your heartstrings and pull, not tug, pull you into their story. I am almost speechless with how I feel about…

Under His Guidance by Stacy Von Haegert
Once again Stacy Von Haegert has written a historical romance that kept my attention. This follows the life of Edward and Morgan. I am seeing a preference in how Von Haegert writes her female characters, strong and independent. Just the way I like the women in a story. I love how (so far) none of her females feel as though they have to follow society norms in the time period of the stories. Morgan is a little bit more compliant, but I gather that it is more due to her circumstances than to her true nature. I enjoyed diving into Under His Guidance and getting to be among that world…

Under His Protection by Stacy Von Haegert
I’m going to be very honest here. I do not usually read Historical Romance. It’s just not my cup of tea. So to say Under His Protection by Stacy Von Haegert caught me by surprise is an understatement. Von Haegert brought to life a beautifully written story. I loved her main characters and side characters. Greyland, the female main character, is unlike most historical females. She is free spirited, intelligent, outspoken, and quite the handful. I fell in love with her instantly. Never one to back down or turn the other cheek, she didn’t not conform to society. Honestly I think Greyland is the main reason I loved this book.…

My thoughts on Estuary by Rachel Blake & Amilia Quinn
Estuary is the third book in The Derivation Series. First let me tell you that this series is amazing and must be read in order to understand the full story. Estuary brings in more characters that I feel are going to be extremely important to the whole story. I can’t express how amazing the world building and character growth is in this series. There is heartache, love, loss, magic, and so much more to devour. I am willing to admit that I did devour this series and had been (impatiently) awaiting this book. I’m already begging for Book 4. I need closure. While I need that I also dread it. I…

2021 Wrap Up – My favorites of the year
I have sat down to write a couple reviews this week. Every time words escaped me because they were that dayum good. I think 2021 has been the year for paranormal romance, at least for me it has. They are in my top reads of this year. So, I figured why not add them to my 2021 wrap up. Read on to find my favorite books/series of this year. Now as always, these are books I read this year. Some of them may not have come out this year. But let’s get this party on the road. The Rise of the Pride by Theresa Hissong Anyone who asks me about…

A Very Christmas Rossi by Quinn Marlowe
A Very Rossi Christmas is the debut novella by Quinn Marlowe. It is explosive, steamy, and intriguing. Quinn Marlowe has blown the door of newcomer right off the hinges. A Very Rossi Christmas puts a well executed spin on a star crossed lovers plot. The whole book had me on the edge of my seat, waiting to find out The who, what, where and definitely the why. Beautifully written, the story invites you to come in and kick off your shoes, while blowing up in front of you. I can not wait until Marlowe’s first full novel comes out in February. I am excited to see how she takes…

Spotlight Author: Kaylee Rose
1. What lead you to writing? Who or what inspired you? When I was in sixth grade, I wrote a five paragraph short story on a piece of binder paper about a young girl finding her first love. It was called, Someday. That story always stuck with me and when I met my husband, I felt like that girl. We’ve been together for over thirty years now. He’s a huge romantic and treats me like a princess and he’s the reason I believe happily ever after’s. My inspiration for writing my current series, The Weight of the Badge, came from a class I attended with my husband about emotional survival…

Review: Need by Mandy L Woodall
Need is the book I didn’t know I needed. This book is smoking hot. Like call the fire dept cause it is going to burn your house down hot. Woodall holds no punches back with her first scene. So be prepared that you will need a few minutes to cool off. How this book escaped my attention in 2017 boggles my mind! Ryker and Bailey are two relatable characters who grab at your heartstrings. They are exquisitely written, well developed and their growth through out the book is impressive. The world of the Landry’s is idyllic and makes you want to be a part of it. I was totally taken…
