Saturday Snippet featuring Rachel Lyn Adams

About halfway through my shift, I saw the hostess seating a couple in my section. I couldn’t see them clearly, but I watched with envy as the man guided the woman through the restaurant with his hand on her lower back. At their table, he pulled the chair out for his date to sit down. It was a simple gesture, one I had never been on the receiving end of. Brad had never taken me out on a proper date. In the beginning, I was blinded by his charisma and good looks so I accepted whatever time he was willing to spend with me. Once I was pregnant, he knew…

Saturday Snippets featuring Bull by RJ Gray

“This tie is something a mentor taught me. It’s pretty, it’s inescapable, and it’s safe. It won’t cut off your circulation. It’s tight enough where you feel it but loose enough it won’t cause any long-term issues. If you notice, baby girl, I’ve tied this knot here on the bottom and not the top.” She nodded, unsure why he was pointing it out. “If we were playing and you were being a brat and tried to escape from Daddy’s ties you could use your teeth on a top knot. This way, you can’t get at the knot,” he winked at her. “Now, up on your knees, taller for me,” he…

    Saturday Snippet featuring Aisha Urooj

Prologue Do you have a friend that makes you smile on the darkest of days? I do! I have my best friend, Ellie. If you are lucky enough to have a best friend, what would you do for them? Would you stand up for them? Fight the last person on Earth for them? Die for them, or give them your kidney? Said yes so far? Surely your love for your friend is wonderful… but what if I asked: Would you be willing to live through heartbreaks over a thousand lifetimes, just to be with your friend together until the last breath? Would you only do it for your best friend,…

    Saturday Snippet featuring Katrina Marie

The hallway to the office is a short distance away, and I make my way toward it. The loudness of the bar fades away the closer I get to the office. Now where is that box? Scanning the shelf, I don’t see it anywhere. I squeeze behind the door, bumping it slightly as I reach up to look at the boxes higher on the shelf. There. Of course, it’s on the top one. I really need to get some kind of a ladder in here. Especially since there are more people working here that may need to get something. My hand goes up to grab the box, and I feel…

    Asher by Livell James

I’m not new to the Rogue Enforcer world but with each new author that writes in the series my favorite author list grows. Livell James is no exception to that. James has grown the RE world to include Asher, a man who doesn’t think love exists for him. A man who never seems to be on top even though he has untapped abilities. He’s stuck in a pack whose Alpha is corrupt. The plot line keeps you turning the pages. Finding out if Asher can escape or even find lasting love in all the chaos is what had me up all night to finish. This is a must read for me…

Look out for Phantom by RJ Gray

I was suggested Phantom by a trusted friend. Having never read RJ Gray before I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect. First, this is a series based on a community of ex military men. So I expected a lot of action. What I did not expect was the steam! And oh lawdy did Gray bring the heat in Phantom.   Phantom is the first in the series and what a way to start off. The storyline appealed to me within the first couple pages. The characters are extremely relatable. I fell in love with Sam and Hudson. Their chemistry, not only in the sheets, was blazing. I hate that I…

Under His Guidance by Stacy Von Haegert

Once again Stacy Von Haegert has written a historical romance that kept my attention. This follows the life of Edward and Morgan. I am seeing a preference in how Von Haegert writes her female characters, strong and independent. Just the way I like the women in a story. I love how (so far) none of her females feel as though they have to follow society norms in the time period of the stories. Morgan is a little bit more compliant, but I gather that it is more due to her circumstances than to her true nature. I enjoyed diving into Under His Guidance and getting to be among that world…

Under His Protection by Stacy Von Haegert

I’m going to be very honest here. I do not usually read Historical Romance. It’s just not my cup of tea. So to say Under His Protection by Stacy Von Haegert caught me by surprise is an understatement. Von Haegert brought to life a beautifully written story. I loved her main characters and side characters. Greyland, the female main character, is unlike most historical females. She is free spirited, intelligent, outspoken, and quite the handful. I fell in love with her instantly. Never one to back down or turn the other cheek, she didn’t not conform to society. Honestly I think Greyland is the main reason I loved this book.…

My thoughts on Estuary by Rachel Blake & Amilia Quinn

Estuary is the third book in The Derivation Series. First let me tell you that this series is amazing and must be read in order to understand the full story. Estuary brings in more characters that I feel are going to be extremely important to the whole story. I can’t express how amazing the world building and character growth is in this series. There is heartache, love, loss, magic, and so much more to devour. I am willing to admit that I did devour this series and had been (impatiently) awaiting this book. I’m already begging for Book 4. I need closure. While I need that I also dread it. I…

    Spotlight Author: Kaylee Rose

    1. What lead you to writing? Who or what inspired you? When I was in sixth grade, I wrote a five paragraph short story on a piece of binder paper about a young girl finding her first love. It was called, Someday. That story always stuck with me and when I met my husband, I felt like that girl. We’ve been together for over thirty years now. He’s a huge romantic and treats me like a princess and he’s the reason I believe happily ever after’s. My inspiration for writing my current series, The Weight of the Badge, came from a class I attended with my husband about emotional survival…
