Saturday Snippet featuring Lola Clarke
Fuck, he’s smokin’ hot. My thighs clench involuntarily at the thought of what his mouth would feel like against me, and my eyes travel down his face taking in the dark scruff on his sharp jawline then I look over the rest of him. I sigh at the sheer perfection that is his body, with thick muscles that radiate raw and primal strength, nothing I’ve never encountered in a man before. Mr. Hottie stands and walks over to me, his woodsy cologne invades my senses as he comes closer and I almost lean into him and inhale audibly but I fight the urge to make a complete fool of myself.…

WIP Wednesday featuring Kate Davison
Excerpt from Blackstone: Dahlia by Kate Davison I was five when my father killed my mother in cold blood. I’ll never forget that day. Even now, more than thirty years later, I can still hear the boom so loud in our quiet little house. I was in my room with all my crayons and plain paper spread across the desk, creating some world tucked deep in my imagination. The report shook me, froze me in place to listen. Waiting for what came next. Nothing. Fear crawled up my throat as if I knew the magnitude of that sound. As if I could actually feel the cleaving of my life into…

Saturday Snippet featuring Lesley Hoover
I clear my throat pulling my gaze away acknowledging that he does clean up rather well. “Where did you get the tuxedo?” I ask in a small voice. “I had to look everywhere for it,” He rumbles a laugh. “You should’ve asked, I would have given you a recommendation.” I run my hand over the satin lapel, smoothing it. “Is it not formal enough?” He asks with a roll of his eyes. “It will do perfectly actually. I’m impressed.” I smile crossing the room to the kitchen. “Wine?” I ask as I pour myself a glass, feeling my nerves loosen just a smidge. “No, I better not. I don’t drink…

WIP Wednesday featuring E.E. Brynes
MBB is so excited to have another new way to show our love and support to indie authors and their work. We came up with this WIP Wednesday to help bring a spotlight to upcoming works for some great authors. We are happy to have E.E. Byrnes help us kick this new segment off. After telling Winnie where I planned to go but not my reason for it, I left, carrying the small luggage case she had given me. Inside was a change of clothes, some food, and a little money to support me when I got there. “Good luck, Ora,” she said wistfully. “Lots of jobs up north, so…

Saturday Snippet featuring Imogen Wells’ Lawless Deception
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you,” a voice rumbles back to me at the same time as the snick of a gun echoes. A feeling of disbelief and shock and something else, which I can’t quite name, shivers down my spine at the sound of the voice. It’s a voice I recognise, but one I’ve not heard in almost eleven years. Just as I’m wondering if he’s here too and at what point my mouth will form some fucking words to find out, the deep baritone that used to make me weak at the knees and light up my fucking world, booms out over the empty space. “Long…

Saturday Snippet featuring S. Courtney
RYKER I am back in town near the bar district, leaving that sorry bastard where he belongs. I watch the humans interact and enjoy the company of one another. Mindlessly, I twirl her ring around my finger. I took it before I left the restaurant so that they would find no evidence of her presence there. It was a beautiful ring, a cocky gesture on his part, the diamond was obnoxiously huge and I have no doubt it looked ridiculous on her tiny, delicate fingers. She didn’t seem like the type to want a huge bauble, but what did I know about her besides her being the victim. I take…

Saturday Snippet: Dead Reckoning by Gwyn McNamee
PROLOGUE REAPER The oppressive heat and humidity weigh down on my body like a heavy, wet blanket. Every breath draws hot, muggy air into my lungs, offering no relief. It’s more like drinking in soup than breathing, really. Sitting in the thick, lush vegetation soaked with the recent rainfall doesn’t help things, but it provides me the perfect vantage point to stalk my target. Complete cover where I can blend into the landscape and from which to deliver death. He hasn’t spotted me once since I began to follow him over a week ago, stalking him around town, assessing his every move, noting his patterns to find the perfect opportunity…

Updates!
Dang, it’s been so long since I’ve been on here. That is going to change. This blog started out as a way for me to get all my thoughts and feelings about my love for books out. It was my go to place. That soon spread into my reading group, My Bissful Books Readers. I have been in the indie book community for over 7 years now. Wow! That’s seems so long but to me it hasn’t been. I was pulled out of retirement from doing personal assistant work in 2020. Not to long after Blissful Services was born. Slowly my time to read, review and blog started to diminish.…
