📣⭐️Spotlight Author: RR Born⭐️📣

With the few signings I have been blessed to attend I have met some of the most amazing people. RR Born is no exception. She has the biggest, warmest smile and puts you right at ease (even if you’re in a state from all the networking you’ve been doing). She is just such a calming presence. I can’t wait for y’all to get to know her. So without further ado please dive in and get to know this beautiful soul.

  1. You tend to write in the paranormal world with witches and shifters, what draws you to that world?

I like the paranormal world because I can use my imagination to create anything I want. I’ve always thought of witches as beings who loved nature and if I was born in a time without technology, I’d probably be considered a witch. I love the magic of growing things and watching all the other things in nature that are attracted to it.

2. Did your career in television help you with your career as an author?

I don’t know if it so much helped it. I think they are two sides of the same coin. Both create, but one is in-your-face visual, the other makes the reader use their imagination to see the world you put on the page. But I’m happy my TV bosses always let me write stories while taping, so I have lots of stories to tell.

3.What is some thing that you learned from writing the Gray Witch series?

I learned how to make my own teas and salves.

4. You are an amazing Gardner in your off time, what are some of your other hobbies?

I have a degree in photography. I thought I wanted to be a paparazzi, but in the end, I loved taking pictures of nature. And I crochet.

5. I know your big into the renaissance fairs, do you think that they help bring your characters to life more?

Yes. I’ve only recently discovered the renaissance, but it is so much fun. I see the different costumes and it makes me think of what type of character I could create with it. I’m almost done with a new series where the girl is using the renaissance faires as “witness protection.”

6.You recently wrote your first shifter story. Is this something we will be seeing more of in the future? Are there any other genres you’d like to tackle?

There will be more shifters, plus lots of other supernaturals in my new series coming out next year. I want to have more creatures that we rarely see like a banshee, lamias,  and brownies but still have creatures that can hide among us like Fae.

7. Being a practicing witch, do you feel as though The Gray Witch series might enlighten some readers who have no real knowledge of the practices and culture? Is this something you strive for?

I try to put things that I like to do, like celebrate the solstices or powerful celestial events, like eclipses. I don’t want to bog the reader down, but I try to be accurate about the info I do put out there, but some stuff is just made up, like ancient old druids who can fly. That’s just fun.

8. What is something that you were shocked to learn after being in the indie community for a while?

That there’s so much more to writing a book than writing a book. Learning to be a webmistress and graphic artist is par for the course now.

9. I know everyone is missing signings this year, what are you missing the most and the least? Why?

I am such a people person, so yes, the signings are so much fun for me. I love meeting new-to-me authors and talking to readers. I don’t miss packing up the car to drive all over Texas.

10. Is there anything you can tell us about upcoming works?

New series is based in New Orleans. It’s about a woman who has just found out the women in her family has been the judge, jury, and executioner for the supernatural world for more than 500 years.
Book 3 of the Gray Witch series should be out by St. Paddy’s Day 2021.
There are a few other projects working, but they aren’t quite ready yet.
