    WIP Wednesday featuring Lynessa Layne

If I could hear him down there, he wasn’t up here. My feet raced to his door like the rest of me was an after-thought. Looking around myself, I shoved a chair under the knob to bide time. The pounding I heard was Elliot racing back up the stairs. I struggled into a shirt I found on his bathroom counter. He slammed against his bedroom door as I dashed again for the balcony but heard who must’ve been his night guard on the lower patio speaking frantic Spanish to someone else. I glanced at the window and saw a branch just outside. I shoved the window open as Elliot slammed…

“He’s coming out. His driver just had the car come around. Are you ready?” There was a grumble on the other end. “Ready?! I thought you said, you would think of something else?! We’ve been here two hours and you can’t come up with a better plan than this?!” I rolled my eyes hearing Jason complain. What I was about to do was plan B which I had made in case I couldn’t think of a plan A. “Look I paid you, okay? Just get into place and do what you got paid for please. If he leaves and I don’t get paid, then I’ll gladly let Gerald know –”…

“What the fuck!” Rhone yelled. Jordan and my heads shot toward the door so fast I thought we’d have whiplash. There Rhone stood, shooting daggers at us. His face was an ugly shade of red, not due to embarrassment. No, man, he was fucking pissed.           Shit busted.           With Rhone’s voice a hundred decibels higher than any man’s voice should be, of course, Ely heard and had to come and check out what was up. “What’s wr—” he froze, eyes locked on us. “You’re defiling our laundry!” he screeched. “My eyes! My eyes!” he repeated, burying his face in his hands as he took off.           “Dude, no,” Rhone…

I’m not entirely sure what just happened. A moment ago, she was about to turn me down…I think. Actually, I’m sure she was going to say no. I know rejection when I see it. But something caught her attention. From the way her skin pales, it’s not a good thing. “Caroline?” Her eyes are wide when she turns in my direction. “He can’t see me here.” Then her cheeks turn a bright red. “Though that explains why he didn’t bother to pick up his son. Selfish son of a bitch.” She’s angry now. I don’t know what to do. Of all my time keeping drama out of the bar, I…

Saturday Snippet featuring Addict by Ivy Love

I watch as her face twists in confusion. “Why?” she asks. At this point, Jazz isn’t even trying to hide it anymore and is laughing outright. I can’t fight my smile either, she’s stunning, but right now she looks adorable.  Her face is scrunched up and she looks like she’s trying to figure out an unsolvable math problem. “Why what?” A small scowl crosses her face, “You know exactly what I mean.” Jazz leans back, “I’m enjoying this so much right now.  I told you so,” she taunts Liv. “Told me what?” “How you looked hot tonight and he was looking at you.” “Whatever,” Liv says. “Actually, she isn’t…

“Are you telling me Killian Cross is on his way here right now?” She bites her lip and nods reluctantly. “Exactly how many times has Cross asked you out?” I ask. She wrings her hands together. “Twice. And it’s been months. We’re just good friends, not that it’s any of your business.” I see red. “Not my fucking business? Are you high? Everything about you is my business.” She backs up but it’s too late. In two steps I’m on her. I pull her to me and slam my mouth down on hers. Instead of fighting it, her arms wrap around me. I fist her hair, and she gasps, giving…

“This tie is something a mentor taught me. It’s pretty, it’s inescapable, and it’s safe. It won’t cut off your circulation. It’s tight enough where you feel it but loose enough it won’t cause any long-term issues. If you notice, baby girl, I’ve tied this knot here on the bottom and not the top.” She nodded, unsure why he was pointing it out. “If we were playing and you were being a brat and tried to escape from Daddy’s ties you could use your teeth on a top knot. This way, you can’t get at the knot,” he winked at her. “Now, up on your knees, taller for me,” he…

Risky Rockstar is on the stage (featuring Ryleigh Sloan

Holy crumbs, I have goosebumps everywhere. Kade’s introductory speech punches me in the gut and fills me with so many feels that I’m struggling to swallow right now. I even caught Kevin wiping under his eye a moment ago. Ever since I saw the “Lack of Evidence” video, I haven’t been able to get LP-45 out of my mind, so the day after our dinner at the diner, I told Kevin I was thinking of collaborating with them and asked him if he would like to come with me to the concert as our official “first date.” He jumped at the chance—orphaned children are very much a cause close to…

Prologue Do you have a friend that makes you smile on the darkest of days? I do! I have my best friend, Ellie. If you are lucky enough to have a best friend, what would you do for them? Surely your love for your friend is wonderful… but what if I asked: Would you be willing to live through heartbreaks over a thousand lifetimes, just to be with your friend together until the last breath? Would you only do it for your best friend,…

    Spotlight Author: Kaylee Rose

    1. What lead you to writing? Who or what inspired you? When I was in sixth grade, I wrote a five paragraph short story on a piece of binder paper about a young girl finding her first love. It was called, Someday. That story always stuck with me and when I met my husband, I felt like that girl. We’ve been together for over thirty years now. He’s a huge romantic and treats me like a princess and he’s the reason I believe happily ever after’s. My inspiration for writing my current series, The Weight of the Badge, came from a class I attended with my husband about emotional survival…
