Calum Ranson is sure of three things: his cousin Finley is alive, Calum will find him, and no one knows Calum and his family are Sidhe. No one until Laurel shows up at his mother’s bookstore wearing a dark clan’s mark.
When Calum learns the details surrounding the disappearance of Laurel’s brother, he suspects the evil Hobayeth clan. Calum and Laurel work together in the Realm of Man and the Otherworld to rescue her brother – revealing a connection between Calum and Laurel that may cost Finley his life.

The Circle was written with middle school aged children in mind. Filled with folklore, fairies, and adventure it will be able to capture and keep an adult’s attention. I can say that from first hand experience. I tend to read books without knowing what I am getting into. I hardly read a synopsis or other reviews before starting a book that I want to or have been requested to review. I don’t like to let other peoples opinions influence me. I can’t say that knowing that it was geared to a much younger person than myself would have stopped me from reading it, after all I am a huge Potter fan.

Cipriano has done a brilliant job at bringing to life a world that intrigues me. Using all five senses to bring me into the world of Sidhe. I could feel the difference in each world. I wanted to explore more into the fairy world. I wanted even more to help Calum find Finley and Laurel find her brother, Daniel. How their worlds somehow collided was an amazing twist.

Cipriano is a truly a gifted storyteller. While The Circle may be geared at a younger age range even those of us in our 40s and above can truly enjoy the adventure that is laid out before us. I am certainly ready for book 2 to find out the answers to all the questions that The Circle has left me with.

I always enjoy entering into a Cipriano world. They are all filled with wonder, amazement and fantasy that we are all looking for in life. They offer a world that we can only dream of being in.
